Everyone is different and there isn't a set "norm" for what people have to be or become. We don't see things as they are; we see them as we are. The producer of this film revealed this when the doctors made a woman with a mask seem like she was ugly. After she took of the mask, we finally saw that she was the beautiful one, and everyone on her planet was an ugly alien. The theme of this story is "Being Different". The author reveals this because the whole film was basically about a woman having a different face than others.
